FAQs

Answer

The PSAT NMSQT is an SAT preparation exam for 11th grade students that also doubles as a merit based scholarship competition. For more information please visit https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt

Answer

Students who plan to attend colleges that require the SAT in order for an admissions decision to be made, should take the exam. Students who want to practice for that exam, should take the PSAT.

As of 2020, colleges have divided themselves into three groups, test required, test optional (it's the students choice if they’d like to submit a score), and test blind (the school will not use your score towards an admissions decision). Make sure you do your research to find out which of the colleges on your list require it!

Answer

The ASVAP CEP is a 3 hour, 8 section exam that measures students' verbal, math, science, and technical skills/abilities. The results represent how well a student has developed their skills/abilities. This helps match students with potential careers/fields of study, much like a career aptitude test. In addition this also serves as an entrance exam for careers in the military. This free exam is open to students in grades 10-12.

Answer

No. The traditional 10 section ASVAB exam has been used to match prospective military cadets with careers best suited to them- although the 8 section ASVAB CEP also qualifies as an entrance exam for students interested in military careers, participation in the ASVAB CEP does not obligate students to talk with military recruiters or consider a military career after reviewing their results. If you are interested in joining the Military it is best to discuss your score with a recruiter.
