1. Why should you take a dual enrollment course while in high school?

Answer
Taking a dual enrollment course during high school is beneficial because it allows you to earn college credit while still in high school, essentially giving you a head start on your college education, saving you time and money, and helping you better prepare for the rigor of college-level coursework by experiencing it early on.

2. What happens if my student fails a dual enrollment or HSE course?

Answer
Failing a dual enrollment course affects your student’s college GPA- this can cause them to enter college on academic probation or become ineligible for financial aid. It is very important that students seek out resources

3. What support is provided for my students if they are struggling in their dual enrollment coursework?

Answer

Course Proctors are present in classrooms to assist students with time management and college coursework.
CTE counselor and Pathway Curriculum Support Provider check in with students who exhibit low grades in their coursework.
Saturday Study Halls are available for students on Campus- keep a look out for communication via Remind.

4. What happens if a course I want my child to take is full/not offered, or I want my child to take a dual enrollment course over the summer that is also full/not offered?

Answer

If a student has exhausted all opportunities to enroll in a dual enrollment course and/or there is no course equivalent to the course the student would like to take offered at Sanger West High School, the student has the option to take courses through High School Enrichment (HSE)
1. To qualify for HSE a student must fulfill the following criteria:
  1. Have a cumulative high school GPA of at least a 2.0
  2. Obtain approval from the high school principal, a high school counselor, and a parent.
  3. The student must have exhausted all opportunities to enroll in an equivalent course at their High School, including attempts to enroll in Advanced Placement (AP) High School courses.
  4. The student must meet all the necessary prerequisites for any course in which they wish to enroll
